Karl Carter is Founder and CEO of Snake Nation. Karl is a passionate entrepreneur, with 20 + years expertise in social change, entertainment, innovation, creative, marketing/media platforms and strategic growth. He leads a team of dedicated creators, technologists, producers, strategists, influencers and project managers in 7 countries that are galvanized by Snake Nation’s mission to impact the lives of millions of diverse creators and coders globally. Snake Nation is a mission driven culture, content and technology company, HQ in Atlanta, GA and Cape Town, South Africa. Snake Nation has successfully established partnerships with major innovation hubs in Atlanta and South Africa. in 2018, Karl lead Snake Nation to establish its first wholly owned live/work/ launch property in Cape Town, South Africa. Snake Nation empowers young Multicultural Millennial (M2) creators and coders to enter the global Creative Economy on their own terms and build sustainable careers. The Snake Nation network encompasses People, Platforms and Places- Snake Nation College Societies, Digital platform and Social Studios to live, work and create throughout Africa and America. Karl’s experience in brand and movement building is longstanding and is consistently innovative. From truth.com, the most successful youth social change campaign ever, to Current TV the first user generated TV network, to Master of the Mix, the first DJ competition reality show. Airing on a BET and Vh1 for three seasons, it generated millions of views and over 500 million PR impressions. Karl has done award winning work for truth®, P&G, Current TV, Verizon, Nissan, Smirnoff and Guinness. He was awarded the first ever Ad Color Innovator award by a distinguished panel of leaders in the advertising and media industry. He and his team’s work on Current TV garnered a Best New Network Launch from TV Week, Al Gore Guerrilla Marketer of the Year and an Emmy Award for Best Interactive Television Service. Their work on the Truth team won numerous awards and was recognized by Ad Age as the top 15 campaigns of the 21st century. Karl is a GWU School of Business Alum and Goldman Sachs 10kSB Graduate. He is passionate about helping young people and social causes through media and marketing. Karl's commitment to global youth culture, social change and media innovation make him a force in multiple areas. In 2018, Karl was awarded the World Award for United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Achievement. Karl has been interviewed multiple times regarding the creative economy, space making and technology for millennials and youth. In 2021, Snake Nation was awarded induction into the World Wide Web consortium as an awardee of Grand for the Web inclusion grant. Snake Nation’s purpose will be to influence the governing body for internet standards toward a more diverse, inclusive and equitable internet economy for everyone. Karl currently resides in Atlanta, GA and Cape Town South Africa with his wife and two daughters. His driving forces are the love of his family and the love of community, culture, technology and creativity.
