Savannah Aleksandra Koolen (1985) is the founder and co-director of the Here to Support Foundation. Koolen studied at the dance academy but unfortunately she had to stop dancing early because of injuries. Her full life she is involved in politics, activism and art and after her study Art & Culture at the University in Maastricht she moved to Amsterdam. For ten years she has been working on how artists and artistic projects can support the struggle of minorities and refugees to equal rights, and strengthen the self-organised-,grassroots- movements. In 2007 she was a coordinator of the Nationwide campaign for funding for the arts, and since the start (2012) of refugee collective We Are Here in Amsterdam she supports their struggle organising educational, artistic projects to gain visibility and work on innovative plans. In 2013 she founded the Here to Support Foundation. In 2016, the Here to Support Foundation won the Ab Harrewijn Prize under her leadership and in May 2017 Here to Support won the European Citizenship Award with the project We Are Here Media Academy. From June 2017, she was also campaign leader of GroenLinks Amsterdam for the winning, local elections in 2018 in Amsterdam and later joined the board of GroenLinks Amsterdam as president of the board in 2019.
Financial inclusion for undocumented people
